MpD president warns of risks of disinformation and challenges of new technologies
The president of the MpD warned this Saturday of the challenges posed by social networks and technological advances, highlighting the negative impact of the spread of disinformation on democratic stability and public debate.
Ulisses Correia e Silva made this warning to the press, before presiding over the commemoration of his party's 36th anniversary, when talking about the challenges of social networks in the legislative elections.
According to the leader, the increased use of digital platforms has profoundly changed the relationship between citizens and institutions, allowing anyone to become a communicator.
Despite the opportunities, he warned that there is also a risk of false information circulating and digital manipulation, including content produced using artificial intelligence.
"Cape Verdeans need to be able to distinguish between true information," he said, adding that political debate should go beyond social media and also prioritize direct contact between candidates and voters.
